FootCare

DISCLAIMER:  MenzClubTheBlog in no way professes expertise in this field, but simply aims to provide encouragement for healthy living – be sure to consult a professional for more info, and the last word on footCare. For the sake of this article, feet are referred to as …Dogs.

You’re in the shower and you wash everything except between your toes and your feet, thinking the whole time; “the water running down my leg will get them”. When all it does is get them a little wet, you lazy fart.  As a couple of the most important organs that you have, if you don’t care for your feet – you wont have a leg to stand on!
Your feet make getting around so much easier and deserve proper care.  Why would you neglect such a vital organ?  Do you enjoy standing up? Walking?. Riding a bike? Running? or playing sports? How about maintaining balance while at any of the above?  And I’m sure that your girlfriend, wife or mother (which can be all the same woman for some) has warned you about those smelly socks and funky shoes.  If bad DOGS run in your family history, seek out proper care on your annual doctor’s visits, or seek out Podiatrists in your area, being sure to discuss any concerns, fears or pains that you may have.  If not, don’t wait ‘til they fall off before you decide to care for them.  Here are some common problems that those who have neglected their feet experience…

Athlete’s Foot [Fungal & Bacterial Conditions]; which include peeling, dry skin, itching, and blisters can develop on your feet due to humid, damp, sweaty, dark places = which are your shoes, that provide the perfect breeding ground for this fungus to grow. Corns/Calluses; are formed when the side of the toes and foot rub up against the shoes to create friction, pressure and discomfort. Worn and Busted Shoes can also play a part in bad feet, try to have a nice variety of shoes to wear.  Not so much different styles, but more so in the thinking of shoes to work in, shoes to play in, and shoes to dress in. Update them as needed to prevent them from “leaning” [becoming extremely worn].…and then there are Hammer Toes; which are caused by tendons in the foot that regulate toe movement that are shortened, the toe knuckle is swollen or enlarged causing the toe to curl back.
As you can see, by neglecting your feet, they can strike back with a pretty serious venge, so here are some ways to care for your dogs....
A daily regime of foot care is essential. Taking a warm foot bath or making sure to wash them while in the shower, cleaning between the toes on a regular basis is a good start.
Dusting your feet daily with a foot powder if needed is also recommended for those of you with foot issues. Change your socks regularly, or even wearing 2 pairs of socks will help cushion your feet and absorb moisture in your shoes.
Be sure to moisturize or lube your feet too, as the dry skin can cause chaffing and discomfort as well, [especially in cooler/dryer seasons]. Don’t forget about proper maintenance of your toenails, [Pedicures] keeping them well groomed and trimmed, by cutting them straight across and level with the top of the toe. For additional pampering, try having a foot message, even while resting at home, be sure to put your feet up while sitting or lying down to keep the blood circulating as much as possible, and finally…Don’t Smoke!
Now if you’re smart, you would ask your girl, wifey or mom to offer a little TLC and do it for you. If Jesus can wash feet, then so can they.
